I had my
donut. Delicious. Everyone else
regular Greek breakfast. Today we go to the farmers' market to do some shopping. But here are some pictures showing George and Dimitra's cute place in Chania.
FARMERS' MARKET. We parked the car and as we're waking to the market area we pass by a man selling pork souvlaki on a stick. A squeeze of lemon, a bit of salt, and a piece of bread 1€ each stick! I didn't get one which I regret. I had a bite of Richard's and it was good. I was full from my donut and other stuff I had at breakfast but I now think I could have forced myself to have this!
The market
was an explosion of color for me. All the fruits and vegetables-everything I saw-looked like the freshest, the best. We bought Greek yogurt of course, olives, peppers, tomatoes, cherries, and so much more. I couldn't stop taking pictures. Back at the house we decide to go to Malame, the German War Cemetery. The man is here at the house installing George's back porch railings so he'll be able to move his grill there.

MINOAN THOLOS TOMB. Located very close to the German military cemetery of Maleme at hill Kafkala. Has a long entrance corridor

Huge limestone rock used as a lintel and much larger than any other building material in the tomb

MALEME/GERMAN WAR CEMETERY. Best known as the place where German paratroopers invaded Crete in 1941. More than half of them lost their life in the attack and are buried here. The view looking out to sea is beautiful. There are information boards, donation box, WC, and a cafe close by. The grounds were immaculate. The grass was cut, the stones clean. Very well maintained. Very moving experience. Drinks at the cafe 4.50€.

BEACH. We got dropped off at 3:30 pm and were picked up at 5:30 pm. It was nice to have this time at this lovely town beach.
KEFADI. Dinner. Near Laki. Traditional Cretan food. We get Greek salad, bread, rice pilaf, dark meat chicken, pork, sausage, fennel pies, french fries. Whew! Wish I had taken some pictures. I thought I did, but nope.
