6/30/2011 Crete/Chania, Elafonisi Beach, Falassarna Beach, dinner-delivery

Breakfast.  Today George is taking us to some very nice beaches.  Dimitra's mom is coming with us.  We load up the car with towels, a beach umbrella.

On our way driving through town past the covered market

Stunning scenery on the drive

ELAFONSI BEACH.  Long drive.  Took us around 2 hours to get to the beach.  Got here a little after 1:00 pm.  This beach was absolutely lovely.  The color of the sand-a hint of pink, the turquoise water.  It was calm so perfect for me.  I even did some snorkeling and saw white/silver fish.  We had drinks and snacks.  This is a good family beach.  There was a guy selling grilled corn, steamed corn, boiled corn.  I think there were other vendors but I'm not sure as I don't have any pictures.  I do know we brought a cooler with us.  Such a nice, lazy time.  Enjoying the sun and the water.  We spent 2-3 hours here.

Perfect!

Our umbrella

Those colors!

FALASSARNA BEACH.  Got here a bit past 5:30 pm.   This beach was a bit more rough.  Waves would make for good body surfing.  Nice sandy beach.

Time to come out

DINNER.  Back at the house we decide to order in.  George picks the place and orders pork souvlaki wraps.  OMG!  They were delicious.  Stuffed with tender pork and french fries and other good things.      Really wish I had taken a picture.  I was not expecting the french fries!  After George drives us to an internet cafe in town so I can check on my e-mail account just to see if things back home are ok.  They are.  Nothing worrisome in my e-mails.  My parents and Aunt Jane are all in their 80s so I worry.  I had asked my brother to contact me via e-mail if any concerns.  Another great day ends.
